I just ordered the second one of these for my little parakeet. I've had him for six months and it has taken him about that long to whittle down most of the mahogany pods on this. Chewing shredding and preening is a natural behavior that engages them mentally, keeps them occupied and is good for their beaks so I'm glad that he enjoys using this toy so much.
It arrived yesterday, and I placed it in my budgie's day cage last night after she went to bed in her sleep cage. I came home from work today and it's completely destroyed. Just the foam flower things left. Fantastic. She must have had so much fun, and I'm kinda sad I missed witnessing her joy, but I'm glad she wasn't bored while I was at work. I 100% recommend this to birds that are a fan of mahogany pods, dried grasses, preening toys, ect... It's even food for birds that are new to toys, it's not super big so it's less scary than a large chunky toy.
Have purchased several of these for my smaller birds and they love them. They are fun for foraging, perching, and preening, plus they have the added attraction of a shiny bell to ring and play with. Definitely one of their favorite toys.
