  • Gradual Transition to Adult Diet: After 7–14 days, depending on species size, the formula can be gradually replaced with Formula 3 over 1–2 days. This ensures a smooth dietary transition while meeting the evolving nutritional needs of growing squabs.

  • Versatile Handfeeding and Rehabilitation Use: In addition to being a squab crop-milk replacer, the formula is suitable for handfeeding or tube feeding of insectivorous birds during rehabilitation. No additional vitamin or mineral supplements are necessary, providing balanced nutrition in every serving.

General Nutrition Information

  • Designed to match the high‑protein, high‑fat “crop milk” diet of parent doves and pigeons for squabs from hatching until about 7–14 days.
  • After the initial phase, the diet transitions to a formula (referred to as Formula 3) over a 1‑2 day period to meet the changing nutritional needs of growing birds.
  • No additional vitamins or mineral supplements are needed because the formula is designed to be complete during the feeding period.

Soybean Protein Isolate, Dextrose, Soybean Oil, Calcium Carbonate, Dicalcium Phosphate, Choline Chloride, DL‑Methionine, Manganese Sulfate, Niacin, Alpha Tocopherol Acetate (source of Vitamin E), Ethoxyquin (preservative), Ferrous Sulfate, Ascorbic Acid.

  1. Hand‑feed young doves and pigeons (squabs) from hatching until approximately 7‑14 days of age (7 days for smaller species and up to 14 days for larger species).
  2. Mix the powder with warm, clean water to create a smooth, acceptable consistency, feed in measured portions so the crop is filled but not over‑distended; gradually increase solids and reduce dilution as the squab grows.
  3. After the squab reaches 7‑14 days (depending on species size), begin transitioning to the standard diet (Formula 3) over 1‑2 days by mixing increasing amounts of Formula 3 and decreasing the Squab Diet; do not add extra vitamin or mineral supplements and always provide fresh water.

Store the Roudybush Squab Diet in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Use by the “Use By” date printed on the package. For extended storage, refrigeration can preserve it up to about 3 years, and freezing can extend shelf life up to about 6 years; allow the product to return to room temperature and remove any condensation before use.

A necessary essential to have on hand

I have not lost a single squab that I have fed this to, and I had no idea what I was doing starting out. 1 year and 6 hand raised squabs later, I wouldn't use anything else. Also great for unwell adult birds. This is the stuff, it saves the birds. It's an essential to have on hand for rescuing pigeons.

Great emergency food for young chicks who got sick

I had 2 older young pigeons who got sick and went off food. Used this food with medication when they went off feed abs they turned around and recovered. Made it into a pudding consistency.
