Volkman Avian Science Super Parakeet Food, 4 lb

This bird seed is perfect for my two very picky budgies! There is hardly any leftover seed in their bowl at the end of the day compared to their previous seed! This is a must have for all budgie owners! I recommend keeping it in a refillable non perishable plastic container keeps it fresh for longer!

I have used this for years. I have had many cocktails and they all love this seed.

Commercial seed mixes at local pet shops had too much filler & non-edible stuff for a parakeet. Cracked corn? I ordered the Volkman online & have been very pleased with it. Smells fresh & has much less filler. It disappears quickly from Leo's seed cups. Somebody likes it.

I have purchased Volkman Avian Science Super Parakeet Diet for almost as long as I've had my Parakeets who are over nine years old. I've tried other seed brands on occasion when Volkman has been out of stock and have been disappointed in their quality and lack of seed variety and nutritional value. I have been very happy with Volkman seed and happy with how healthy it has kept my birds. I highly recommend it.

My parakeet gets one teaspoon of this food a day, along with 1 teaspoon of another brand of “fruity pebbles” looking bird crumbles. He is not allowed more seed until he finishes the crumbles. Of course he always eats the seed first. But he knows he will not be given more until he finishes his crumbles. This is the way to ensure my bird is healthy and getting all the nutrients he needs. These seeds are far superior to the cheap seeds sold at the store. My bird is happy, healthy, and he talks, saying multiple words and phrases. This is the food I was recommended from a popular parakeet website and it is the only seed he has had since I got him as a baby. He is almost 5 now.

A good value! I don’t recommend you keep it in the bag, the seal isn’t that great. I always transfer my food to a sealed glass container. My little budgies love this food!

After purchasing a baby budgie/parakeet that was used to eating a different brand of food, she easily took to these without any problems and loves eating this seed mix. For the price you get an amazing amount of food with a large variety of seeds in a convenient and resealable bag. I will be purchasing more of this brand in the future and highly recommend them.

Updated Review: Volkman has changed and improved not just the package design, but the seed mix as well as of late June 2016. I am attaching photos of the new bag and a comparison photo with Volkman on upper left, Kaylor-Made on upper right, and Dr. Harveys on bottom. The Volkman seed quality and mix is far improved from the last bag I received 6 months ago. I like to offer my Bourke's Parakeets variety, so I have all three of these seed mixes in the photo. Dr. Harveys is not my top pick and I will stop buying it now. It has less and less of the seeds the birds eat and more they don't, so it is mostly wasted (it has changed in the past 6 months too, but for the worse). I like the fresh look and smell of the other two now and they are better priced. I will continue to buy these 2 seed brands and offer them along with everything else (real bird mix sprouts from the Sprout People, Herb Salad, Oyster shell, Canadian millet, fresh fruits and veggies, eggfood, Petamine Breeder, and more).

If you have parakeets this is the best food for them other than the cheap kind from the stores. This is one of the best for your birds health. It has a healthy variety of what’s inside of the food

We have an older cockatiel, and he loves these little seeds. We put all the shells out for the wild birds as well. Very convenient and price is better than local.

Our budgies love this seed.

My parakeets are elderly and very picky, they are also rescues, so they were not introduced to a variety of healthy foods and pellets from an early age, which means all they will eat is seed... and they love this Volkman's blend. I used to buy it from my local bird shop, but after moving I was unable to travel the long distance to restock, I was very happy to find it. The order did take a long time to arrive, but that was most likely weather related. Everything arrived in order and so far no issues with the quality. I highly recommend this seed, my babies are 9yrs old, and considering they mostly exist on seed, I believe that speaks volumes for Volkman's.

I feed this to my three Budgies as it is a nutritious seed blend. They are fussy eaters but don't turn up their beaks for this. Well-fed Budgies are happy and healthy Budgies. It is also good value for me.

I was pleased with purchase, got here a day earlier than expected. Will definitely order this again.
