*CERTIFIED ORGANIC INGREDIENT

  • May make up to 30% of the daily diet.
  • For maximum nutrition, use 1 TBS organic palm fruit oil instead of cooking oil when baking.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C).
  • Combine entire bag of mix with 2 whole organic eggs - no shell (remove yolk for less fat), 1 TBS high quality organic vegetable oil (or red palm fruit oil), and 1 cup (235 ml) water.
  • Fill greased bread pan or muffin tins and bake for 25-35 minutes.
  • Do not bake in nonstick (PTFE-coated) cookware, as the fumes are toxic to birds.
  • If prepared with the addition of fruits, vegetables or nuts, Bird Bread should be considered a "treat" and fed only in limited quantities (no more than 10% of the daily food allotment when combined with all other treats).
  • Can be served warm.
  • Some flavorings (vanilla, maple) or herbs can be added as long as they do not change the nutritional content.
  • Bird Bread can be stored for 1 week in the refrigerator and up to 6 weeks in the freezer after baking.
  • Baked Bird Bread can be divided into portions, wrapped in plastic wrap and placed back in the original Harrison's Bird Foods bag for storage in the freezer.

Very versatile converter food!

I've been using this bird bread for a while now. The birds really love it. Converting them to pellets was quite the task but this helped. I add pellets to it & a dash of they grey millet & canary seeds. I've also added vegetables too. It's very versatile. I cook them in the cup cake tin. Recently ive been making waffles with them and this seems to work the best. I added just a dash of waffle mix and lots of pellets and egg food mix sometimes. Instructions say mix w an egg and sometimes I do & sometimes not. You really cant go wrong. It all works. I know they're getting good nutrition even if they are getting some comfort foods in it as well. It's what helped them convert to pellets so im very happy. The waffle pieces I pop in the microwave for 8 secs & break it up into pieces. Two tablespoons makes 2-4 waffles that last for 2-3 wks. A whole bag lasts a long time. I have 2 cockatiels. They both love it, and I mean, look how gorgeous his feathers are! Look at his beak and nares! He's immaculate! It's because of the amount of pellets they're getting hidden in the bread. We call it birdie biscuits.

Our Conure loves it.

This product was recommended by my Avain Veterinarian; Molly (now 10 yrs old) was the only non-rescue/store bought bird we’ve ever purchased, (PetSmart) and of course for the store to save $$ they used Higgins Sunburst Seed instead of a heathy pellet mixture. (At least it was Higgins!) Otherwise, she was well taken care of, and we fell in love with her on the spot. We’ve tried many times to ween her from a seed based diet to a pellet one without luck; she also has turned up her “beak” at veggies, but does enjoy a few fruits. Our current issue started about two months ago when she was literally “chicken scratching” in her food bowl and kicking her Higgins Sunburst Conure seed out of her bowl.It was pretty easy to make. We went with the mini-cupcake-sized baking sheet which worked out well. We halved the bag recipe and it worked out well. There has been one drawback- both times we've ordered this, it has ALWAYS been a day late!TY.

African Grey LOVES it! Easy to modify recipe

I can't say enough positive things about this mix! Harrison's is a great company to begin with, but the bird bread is really great for the price and usability of it. The original flavor is the way to go in my opinion, especially since you can add pretty much whatever you like to change up the flavor. My Congo grey, Pixel, is a snacky bird, so he eats pretty much anything, but this is a great way to get a picky bird to consume calcium supplements, pellets, or other veggies. The mix by itself is kind of bland and Pix doesn't like the taste much, so I usually add a splash of maple syrup to make it a bit sweeter. I also chop up his pellets (which he eats alone for breakfast, but begrudgingly) and put them in for some extra vitamins. As far as other ingredients, you can put a ton of extra stuff in (as you can see in the pictures) without the batter getting too thick. The bread bakes very dense as is anyway, since there is no yeast or rising flour; I find that it makes it easier for birds to hold in their little foot and they drop less of it. I would NOT recommend putting in a ton of extra liquid... It makes it too mushy. The autumn themed bread (see pics) I made had pumpkin puree, but it would fall apart a lot after baking. My usual recipe has nuts, peppers (baby bells and serranos,) dried berries, bananas, chiffonaded kale/spinach, cilantro, pellets, maple syrup, vanilla extract, apples, etc. You can add any of your bird's favorite veggies.Storing is easy-- I cut up the bread into 7-8 chunks and freeze them in the bag it came in. One chunk = one week, thaw and break a piece off each day.Overall, the mix is great, and if you're on the fence about it, I'd say go for it! It's about $13, so you're not spending a huge fortune, and if your bird doesn't like it, you can give it to the squirrels. The original flavor is mild enough to where your bird will eat it for the goodies you add, not just the batter itself, I've found. It also makes a great completely-edible foraging snack!

Harrison bird bread mixed with Harrison HOPP pellets. It's wonderful.

I have a 24 year old African Grey Parrot named Tobbie . He is not particularly fond of pellets. But I keep trying to get him to eat them. Last month I found the parrot bird bead mix. I had recently purchased Harrison HOPP pellets so I mixed half of the parrot bird bread with about a half cup of the HOPP pellets. I cooked the bread in small nugget size. Tobbie absolutely loved the bread. He ate every bite of the bread. It lasted about a month. Today I made a second batch. Tobbie was begging for a bite once I took the out of the oven. Try this. It's wonderful.

Fabulous Treats.

I've been feeding them to my parrots for almost 30 years. In fact, this is the only treats they get. Highly Recommended.

A daily treat to go with Harrison's nuggets/main daily diet

This product, along with the entire Harrison's line, is excellent for birds.None of us should own parrots unless we live in Africa or the Amazon area. It's simply cruel to keep them in domestic Western environments. But, many of us do. It is imperative that we feed them properly. Harrison's was developed by veterinarians who understand the science of this branch of birds. I trust them. Our Grey has been eating the line, including Power Treats (just a handful daily), for 18 years. She loves the Power Treats and asks for them, and she eagerly eats the Adult Lifetime and Adult Coarse nuggets as a staple of her diet.We also give her the Red Palm Oil meant to supplement avian diets, spread on some of her fresh food. She gets fresh fruits, vegetables, and greens every day. She also has organic sesame seeds (just a half teaspoon over several days) and a few organic, raw, roasted sunflower seeds, hulled as a special treat. She never has any processed foods, nothing with salt or cane sugar. The only sugar she gets at all is the scant amount in the Power Treats. No chocolate, no dried fruits, no avocado, obviously no coffee, alcohol or any other junk food that human beings are currently addicted too. Nothing cooked. She gets 8 hours of full spectrum light under a special lamp assembly daily and 12 hours of sleep. She is kept out of drafts, away from loud music, and in a place where she gets plenty of human interaction but feels safe at the same time. There are always two closed doors between her and the out of doors, where no domestic bird can survive for long, no matter the climate or time of year. All her toys are bird-safe wood, cotton, paper, or stainless steel. Any other kind of metal causes lifetime accumulations and heavy metal poisoning which is fatal. We watch the iron content of anything she might ingest so as to avoid iron poisoning, which is cumulative as well. No paint surfaces, no shiny cardboard, no dyes.Having and properly caring for and keeping happy a wild bird like this is a full-time commitment that requires education and constant vigilance. We also have pet insurance for her so if she were to need care, we could afford to give it to her from a Board Certified avian veterinarian.Don't get a parrot unless you are willing to do what is best for them, please. For their sakes and yours.

Highly recommend this food for your bird!!

I have been using Harrisons food for my various small and large parrots for the past 20 years. It was recommended to me when I was visiting Colorado and had taken one of my parrots with me. I will never use anything else but Harrisons for all of my parrots! The health benefits are so very worth the little extra money that you will spend for this food compared to any of the other foods on the market...and I am speaking from experience, since I had tried almost everyone of them out there.I have successfully switched several rescue birds to Harrisons, and I am talking birds that have ranged from a seed only diet all of the way to canary seed only, and all human food only diets :(I have found GREAT SUCCESS in transitioning my birds from other food diets over to Harrisons by offering the Harrisons in more of a 'mash' consistency (which is in a almost powdered form)...Yes, Harrisons offers a Mash, but I am talking about more of the 'consistency' of it. I have used their Mash for my smaller birds, and will offer their Power Treats to my bigger birds to get them used to the taste, as I have never had one of my birds turn down a Power Treat:)Then I will grind up their High Potency Coarse in my food grinder and blend it with a small amount of the ground up Power Treats for added flavor, and encouragement to 'search' for the bits and pieces of Power Treats in the dish since they are now used to that taste :)I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you go to Harrisons website and research all of their various types of foods that they offer, along with their expert feeding recommendations under each one of their various types....Their website is extremely helpful to the anyone interested in switching their bird to a healthier diet!!
