Use this diet when switching your bird from its old diet to Roudybush. Continue to feed to adult birds that are not laying eggs or feeding chicks. Lories and lorikeets, which will accept this diet, will have drier droppings than they have on nectar. If you have a bird that is a chronic egg-layer or a bird with a tendency to develop hypocalcaemia (like African Greys), mix 2/3 Maintenance with 1/3 High-Energy Breeder to supply more calcium and vitamin D3. Do not give additional vitamin or mineral supplements. Fresh fruit and vegetable treats may be given as a minor part of the diet.

Store Roudybush Daily Maintenance Bird Food Medium in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and humidity. Keep the package tightly sealed after each use to maintain freshness. When stored properly, it has a shelf life of up to 6 months after opening or 18 months unopened.

Healthy food for your bird

This is high quality food. Do yourself and your bird a favor and avoid the bird pellets with all the artificial colors. The breeder of my 20-year-old Eclectus used this food, I give it to her still, and my parrot just got an A+ bill of health from the vet from a routine check-up.

The only pellet for my hormonal parrots!

Three of my four parrots have displayed very hormonal behaviors on other pellets and have had to be put on Roudybush instead. It's got much lower levels of metabolizable energy than some other pellets, which helps to drastically reduce hormone levels in parrots. The cost means any waste is less of an issue, but the pellets don't produce as much waste as other brands so it's a win win!

My 43 year old Double Yellow-head Amazon’s doctor recommended this, because my bird had fatty liver. I’m very careful what I feed her, because Amazon’s are prone to fatty liver disease. (I had been feeding her Zupreme Natural). After 3 months on Roudy Bush, her liver enzymes were all within normal range, again.I was afraid she wouldn’t eat it, because she can be picky and stubborn with new things, because she wasn’t introduced to them as a young bird, before I rescued her! But, it was a smooth transition! Highly recommend.

Expensive but good nutrition

As I wrote for the low fat version, We've used Rowdybush pellets since weaning off of the liquid diet. Our birds actually prefer it to the point that they ignore seeds, nuts & fresh foods completely. My biggest frustration is how the price swings depending on which size pellet you use. Being a simple extruded pellet food, whether from pet stores OR directly from Rowdybush the price per ounce is identical for ALL pellet sizes. It gets VERY frustrating to see two sizes at under $3.50 lb and then see medium at over $10 lb for the same size bags! I will say that the price is most affordable with the 10 lb bags & larger.FYI: They don't go bad from the bag being open but they DO sometimes infest your house with the small flour moths. This risk comes with any grain product, but outting the bag into a freezer for a few days before you open it helps cut the chances down that you'll get any hatching...
