Roudybush California Blend Medium, 44 oz (2.75 lb / 1.25 kg)

California Blend combines Roudybush Daily Maintenance pellets with dried peaches, apricots, plums, bell peppers, carrots, tomatoes and cabbage. The added fruit and vegetables make it a good transition diet when switching birds to Roudybush pellets. It also works well as everyday food for adult birds that aren't breeding.

Best for: Conures, Amazons, African greys, small cockatoos and dwarf macaws.

Pellet size: Medium

Guaranteed analysis: Crude protein 11.0% min · Crude fat 6.0% min · Crude fiber 3.5% max · Moisture 12.0% max

Good to know: Lories and lorikeets tend to have drier droppings on this diet than on nectar. African greys prone to low calcium may do better on a mix with Roudybush breeder pellets. Ask your avian vet.

Frequently asked questions

Is Medium the right size for my bird? Medium suits conures through small cockatoos. Cockatiels and smaller birds usually do better on Small or Mini.

How long does a 44 oz bag last? About 4–6 weeks for one African grey or Amazon, and longer for a single conure. Store the opened bag somewhere cool and dry.

How do I switch my bird to pellets? Mix California Blend with the current food and increase it gradually over 4 weeks.

Can I mix it with Daily Maintenance? Yes. California Blend is Daily Maintenance pellets with dried produce added.

Feed Roudybush California Blend Medium as the sole diet for your bird. Do not add vitamins or minerals to the diet. Offer fresh, clean water daily. Introduce gradually by mixing with your bird’s current food over 1–2 weeks, increasing the amount of Roudybush each day until it becomes the only food offered. Discard uneaten food daily and adjust the amount fed to maintain a healthy body weight.

Store in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and moisture. Keep sealed in original packaging and use by the “Use By” date. For longer storage, refrigerate for up to 3 years or freeze for up to 6 years, allowing the food to return to room temperature before feeding.

My bird's favorite!

My green cheek conure came to us on an all-seed diet. It was a STRUGGLE to get her to accept any sort of pellet. We tried a ridiculous number of brands, and this specific Roudybush product is the only one she will touch. She is nice and healthy, seems to enjoy the taste, and it's just the right size for a small parrot. Pro tip, put a bowl of this right next to their water bowl and enjoy as your bird masters the subtle art of soup making.

Excellent pellets for picky eaters

This has been a hit for almost all of my birds. My Eclectus, African Grey, Cockatoo and my Conures all love this food, but they will not eat it in any size other than mini. (I'm not complaining, I'm thrilled they are finally eating pellets, just want others to be aware a simple change in size may be the key to getting your birds to eat them.) My stubborn cockatiels and Bourkes will not even touch it at the moment, but we will keep trying.

My sweet lady nibbles loves these pellets. She is 12 years old and has always been on roudy bush pellets.I tasted them myself and they are good!!! I may have to buy more for my morning cereal.

Highly Recommend for any bird owner!

My Green Cheek Conure was used to a mostly seeded diet when I got him. I knew after research before getting him that I needed to make the switch to pellets if it wasn't already being given. I did start with Zupreem Smart Selects because it looked like what he was used too with pellets. When that bag was almost gone I ordered this in Mini. How I got him used to it is much like switching your dogs good. Add a little of the new stuff with the old until all of the old stuff is gone. It worked for us. I feel at ease knowing he's getting his pellets along with dried fruits and veggies. I still give him more veggies when i have him out and give Nutriberries/Nutraveggies treats.Still waiting for a change in his feathers from the switch of food.

All the Eclectus parrots thank you!!!!!

First of all, thank you to this company for finally making an Eclectus parrot food that does not have sunflower seeds or other nuts in itOther companies advertise it it’s for Eclectus, but they’ll have nuts in it. It just absolutely floors me why they can do thatWell, they double bagged this product and obviously it was not in some hot warehouse for months before they sold it because it did not smell rancid. It smells really good when you open up the bag.I am anxious to see if my Eclectus will eventually eat it. It usually takes them a few weeks to get used to a new food, but it’s so healthy and it’s not like the other Eclectus food that has sunflower seeds, and nuts in it, which they definitely shouldn’t have because of their extra long digestive systemMy Eclectus is on medicine for the rest of his life because his former owners didn’t understand the detriment of a high fat diet in Eclectus and I hope by writing this, it will save other Eclectus Parrot

Great company, great products

Very fast shipping. Pellets smelled and felt fresh for my sweet Quaker. He seems to be enjoying them, just the same (if not more) than the original Roudybush brand. Quality, size, taste and shipping were all great for the value of money/cost of item.

One of the few things my picky eater enjoys

My bird loves this stuff, but specifically the California blend variant and not the regular one. I've tried feeding him other pellets in the past and he wasn't having any of it. I feed him these pellets alongside chop, and a small bit of safflower gold mix, he sure likes it!

I was surprised they liked it

I have a Quaker and 2 green cheeks. They are on the colored pellets as free feed. I want to add variety and got this. They actually like It! They could care less about the dehydrated fruit that is in it, but they like the little cylinder dark green pellets. Win!

Good for my conure

Have 5 parrots and one Jen day conure. He had trouble eating the larger parrots food, this fills the bill plus I get a very small seed package for cockatiels and mix them

My lovebird likes it.

Bag has pieces of fruit stuck together as big as golf balls! That being said...my lovebird seems to like the fruits and veggies. He was weened on Roudybush Maintenance Mini Pellets and I thought I would try the California blend. It's a pain to cut up the fruit hunks but I wil probably purchase this again.

My conure loves this food

Purchased this for my sun conure. He loves it. We always bought Roudybush pellets but this blend makes it much better. Sometimes you get a big clump of food. I end up having to throw this away but I would definitely purchase again.

My birds like this food

I put this in the bottom of my birds bowls and then put regular food on top of it. They really like it and I watch them digging to the bottom to get to it.

I was a bit hesitant to purchase because by little birdy hadn't had pelletized food before, but she loves it.

Picky eater

My Eclectus that my aunt passed on to me is a very picky eater. He hates fresh vegetables. He also hates a lot of fruit. I think it’s by the 2 previous owners fed him all seeds during early years. He does love Fuji apples. I bought this California Blend a month ago and he is eating it up. He likes Roudybush Maintenance, but he’s moody eating it. He eats the California Blend daily. Good stuff in there for him. Pellets, fruit and vegetables.
