My Conure Loves This

My maroon belly Conure loves this tent. My guy takes a while to warm up to something new so he needed to live with it a bit but once he felt comfortable he loves it. The bell did come off within a few minutes but I just attached it with a stronger ring. I was concerned he wouldn't like it swinging so I took a hook and hooked one side to the side of his cage. I have to say doing that made a world of difference for him. He will sometimes go between the side of the tent and the cage and cuddle and then he goes inside on the perch when he wants a little more snuggling and dark. In his case he snuggled on the outside until he felt comfortable to go inside. This was definitely one of the best gifts for my Conure.

Great if accustomed to swings.

I don't like reviews given with low ratings based solely because the bird doesn't use it. My bird has yet to use this but that doesn't mean it's not a well made product. He rubs his beak on it and plays with the bell hanging off one side. I'm sure he will like it or even use it once he understands it. It's my job to acclimate him to new toys and prouducts. I prefer this one over those fleece ones that can be pulled apart because the fluff got all over the place and wrapped around my bird's leg band. Had I not gotten rid of it, I fear he'd have tied his legs together and fallen to the floor of the large cage. So if your bird likes swings, this will be easy to use, if not then some training will be required.

Great cuddly tent for Sun Conure

The only thing I would change about this great little tent is the perch material. It is a smooth wooden perch. If it were made out of a soft rope perch, it would be perfect. My little bird loves soft cuddly things and avoids his wooden and plastic perches and toys. He does love bells, though, which is another reason why I decided to buy it.Our little bird is very timid, so I was nervous that he would be afraid of it. On the first day, he tentatively rang the bell a couple of times and then backed away. On the second day he attacked it, biting it and pushing it around. I think he wanted to make sure it was safe and establish dominance. On the morning of the third day when I went to remove his blanket from his cage, I found him cuddled up inside the tent. He always sits with his face in the closed side and his tail sticking out the open side so we peek up at him from underneath. I keep it adjacent to his favorite rope toy. Sometimes he will perch on the rope and stick his head in the tent, hence the suggestion for a rope perch. Maybe I will figure out a way to upholster the perch with some soft material.

Great Tent!

I've been looking for a hutch or a muff or a tent for Conner the Conure ever since we brought him home, but I've read a lot of warnings about safety and concerns for threads and problems with birds strangling themselves in cloth muff hutches and chewing at the material and getting between the linings and such. I made up my mind then not to get one of the muff hutches, because that scared me. I looked everywhere and read all the reviews before I finally decided to get this tent. At first, I thought it would be too small, but I watched some videos and they seemed to work for conures and caiques, so I went ahead and bought it.Conner was a little intimidated by it at first, but then he started coming over to it and picking at it. Within the first day, he had torn off the bell and pulled all the beads off one side. He hasn't pulled the leather off the other side though and he loves chewing on the leaather. He has unknotted it a few times, but I just tie it back. The first night, he didn't mess with it, but the second night he had it, he slept leaning against the outside of the tent (I had it low on his shelf so the perch and bottom of the tent touched the bottom of his shelf, because he would get spooked when it 'wiggled' if I hung it). The third night, he leaned against it inside the tent. Today, he has been climbing on the perch and going inside. He does fit in it--and there's plenty of room, but at the same time, it's close in around him and he feels 'secure'. He's still not completely comfortable sleeping on the perch, but he likes to crawl inside and sleep leaning against the side. He hasn't chewed on the cloth at all and seems to enjoy sleeping in the tent. The construction is well done, no loose strings or anything that looks dangerous. I'm checking it every day, because of the warnings, but it seems to be really well made and safe.UPDATE: Have had this for a month or so now, maybe a little longer, and Conner the Conure absolutely LOVES it now. He sleeps in it every night. It's helped him regulate his sleep/awake cycle well on his own. When he gets tired at night, he goes to his 'tent'--we call it his bedroom. It keeps him warm and away from drafts without having to cover his cage (covered cages are supposed to be bad for bird's respiratory systems, which are touchy to begin with in a home). He will sing/chatter himself to sleep in his tent. Sometimes he will even lay down by leaning against the side of the tent while 'sitting' on his shelf. I don't have it hanging from the top, but rather, on the side of his cage, so it has more stability, and the bottom perch inside the tent rests on his shelf. He absolutely loves it and he hasn't torn it up or picked at it or anything. I would definitely recommend it for someone looking for a tent/muff for their bird that is safe. This is a good size for the Quakers, Caquies, Conures, Ringnecks and cockatiels too.

A Great Parrot Tent!

I purchased this for my baby Aztec Conure, and she loves it!! She is a little bigger than a green cheek conure, and she has plenty of room... it would be good for a Sun Conure or even a Blue Crown Conure in my opinion. The toy with the beads and bell is put together with plastic rope. My baby figured out how to take it down the second day she played with it (and only because she is a baby did it take that long). Also, the bell itself is just a regular bell, so I would recommend moving that part of the toy to a place where the bird will be supervised during play. I would definitely recommend this product!
