Excellent toy for my african grey congo..so far.
I've bought a few of these for my amazon. She goes through phases of not wanting to chew anything for a while then tears into anything around so it's important to have something besides furniture for her :) Lots of pieces here with sisal rope for birds to tease apart too...sadly mine ignores the rope entirely. Depending how your bird chews you'll lose blocks off the main piece before they're shredded but mine just goes down to pick them up and complete the process. At $20 that I bought this it was a good deal and lasted a few weeks. At $30+ I see it now, well, looks like i'll be finding other toys for her. If not for the 50% price increase this would be 5 stars.
My Blue and Gold, Hayli, is a hard bird to please! She ignores most toys I have tried to entertain her with, but nothing seemed to satisfy her! This one, however, I cannot keep long enough. She loves to untie knots, and this one if full of them! Not to mention the wood even entertains her! She completely destroyed this toy and one similar to the very end! I ended up buying more than one! Just bought one last week, and I am already bracing myself for the next purchase. And for the price, it isn't so bad to satisfy a picky bird as quickly as she demands a new toy! I am very pleased with this product, and more importantly, so is Hayli. I will be sure to purchase this toy again....maybe this week the rate she is going!Note: Not all birds will like the same toy, but this is definitely worth a try for a picky parrot!
I never knew Petey was quite the chewer he was until this toy. I've bought a few for out orange winged amazon friend, and I suspect I will go through a few more. It takes him a couple of months to chew it to a pulp, but it sure makes him a happy boy. The toy is quite large and is a goof 12" or so long and about (I'd say) half as wide. It can support the weight of my amazon parrot clinging and swinging from it with ease and it doesn not disappear in proportion to my parrot's size. Take note, however, that you might want a pretty good sized cage to have this toy, since it might swamp a smaller cage. But then again, I hope you don't have this sized bird in a small cage, either. Petey likes that there are many, many, many knots to work in addition to flat and angled chewing pieces. He goes to town on the knots and does quite some beak work chewing (read: destroying) on the blocks. The rope is soft cotton with no parts that could get caught up or tangled on a foot or wing, and the wood is just soft enough not to splinter or crumble away under our parrots chewing fun.
